What is Cancer?
The organs and tissues of the body are made up of tiny building blocks called cells. Cancer develops when cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control. Most cells repair and reproduce themselves in the same way. Normally, this division of cells takes place in an orderly and controlled manner. Because cancer cells continue to grow and divide, they are different from normal cells. Instead of dying, they outlive normal cells and continue to form new abnormal cells.
